On a Gen VI ZZ502 what starter do you use?
Straight or staggered pattern?
Full size or mini?

The GM staggered mini I'm using is too far away from the flywheel. Making the teeth not engage tight enough.

The one that came with mine, pooped out already.
I don't know what year the engine/starter is,
it was in the car for at least 2 years before I bought the car 2 years ago.
It was easy to take to napa and get a replacement, so thats what I did.

Its the ministarter, which is the type I believe the ZZ-502 complete kits came with.

It works so far but I've only started the car 20-25 times since I've got it road worthy.

If I recall correctly its staggered, one bolt was longer than the other, and I didn't use any shims, just bolted up.

Hope this helps.
Gas mileage is almost depressing :( , but the trill of 502 hp, and 570 ft/lbs of torque kinda gets me over it. :D

Thad thanks.

I got a new one from a swap meet and the guy said it's the one.
Well guess what, I don't think so. It worked for a while then it began to crash into the flywheel due to not being close enough to the flywheel.

I found a pic of the ZZ502 starter and it was a straight pattern mini.
I got a straight bolt pattern mini yesterday and it's working fine. So far.:hurray:

btw Thad, I ran 11.93 w/ the stock ZZ502.
