OK, I know this has been hashed around before, but due to clearance & heat issues, how many have gone to shorti headers. Just streeters, no race buffs need reply to this one.
There are some nice shorti's out there ( Doug ( now Pertronix ? ) Hedman ( unsure here, will ask). They have a great look and seem to have a nice flow to them.
They'd give better ground clearance too, for the road has many an obstacle.
The Hedman's state something about not fitting with a 825 Close ratio Saginaw PS box. How can one tell if he has such a steering box??

I am using Hedman shorties on a 72 SS 454, M22 4sp w/ factory AC and PS. They are the only ones that would fit. I am happy with them. They are tough to install due to space and I had to slightly reroute the steel brake line on the passenger side frame because it was too close to the header.

Dougs are now "Patriots" Depending on year won't fit manual transmisssion.

JMO but I've used the Sanderson intermediates and recommend them highly. They will work with a manual trans.
