Is the SS Round gauge dash panel supposed to be the color of the interior or just black? I know the face of it is supposed to be black but is the bottom supposed to match the interior color? If so is it possible to get after market dash panels in color? Where?

What year, 70-72? Are you talking about the metal below the dash or the bottom of the plastic part? For a 70-72 the plastic is all black except for the silver trim.

I am referring to the SS dash panel itself. There is the black around the gauges that is outlined with some silver, below that is the portion I am asking about. My car is a 70 convertable with a bright blue interior.

The whole plastic dash should be black except for the silver outline around the gauges, the outer edge and a few other places. Essentially all the raised areas are silver. This is not a great pic but the dash is all black except the silver you see.

The portion that contains the ash tray is matching to the interior though, right? That is all one part right?

The ashtray matches the interior but it is not part of the same piece. The dash panel that you're talking about, also called a gauge pod, the black plastic part, is just what you see in the pic, the part outlined in silver. It is as seperate piece from the rest of the dash.
