First, to the moderators, I am NOT selling my car at this time, nor using this forum as a way to "advertise"... I am simply looking for a good estimate on what my car is worth, to help me decide whether to sell in the near future or not...

there are a few minor areas I would perform some maintenance/clean up... Just looking for a rough price range, assuming the little stuff is all cleaned up...

The Car:
1966 "SuperSport" (tribute/recreation/restification) convertible.
California car.
I have owned this car since the late 1980's

ALL work done within the last 5000 miles...
"Marina Blue" (very close, but newer color).
Painted in 1994, but still looks pretty good, very nice local show/driver
some minor rust (pinholes) in trunk and floor, but no struct/visual problems
Exterior stock except 15" rally wheels with 1967 "disc brake" caps (originals).
Wheels are powdercoated white.
New white top (2003), only dropped once since installed. All new "power" top parts (pump/ram/hoses), top frame disassembled, media blasted and painted body color.
Most trim new (NOS and repro), original bumpers in nice shape.
BFG T/A tires with lots of tread (265/50s in front. 295/50's in back).

Engine:
1967 "Chevelle" 396 block
TRW forged pistons (~9:1 CR)
Balanced
Edelbrock Aluminum heads, Billet Specialties plain valve covers
Edel Perf RPM Cam and Comp Magnum roller tipped rockers
Edelbrock Dual Quad intake and Edel carbs, K&N filter and Edel fuel pump
Custom stainless hardlines from pump to carbs.
HEI-converted stock distributor
ARP bolts, etc.
Dynomax ceramic coated headers, Flowmaster exhaust and Summit mufflers
Stewart Alum Water Pump (short)
March Pulleys ("higher flow" at low speeds)
GM 7-blade clutch fan, stock shroud, BeCool radiator, dual elec aux fans

Engine compartment/eng block is painted body color with accessories either white (much powdercoated) or body color or aluminum

Front Suspension:
rebuilt with Poly bushings/gas shocks/Hotchkis springs (1"drop) 1.25 swaybar
1972 Chevelle power disc brakes.

Rear Suspension:
stock upper arms, new rubber bushings
Global West lowers (with spherical on frame side), gas shocks, new springs
Stock drum brakes

Transmission/Rearend:
Richmond "Road Race" 5-speed (1:1 5th gear) with low first gear
1966 12-bolt, 2.73 Positraction, Moser axles, ARP bolts
Centerforce DF clutch and flywheel, Lakewood scattershield
Speed direct clutch linkage.
Long shifter, modified to accept stock Chevelle shift handle

Interior:

Stock/restored. 1966 Chevelle
stock, except Custom color combo
White seats/seat backs/door panels/kick panels/console, new clock
Dash and door tops painted body color (Marina Blue/Bright Blue).
Factory tilt steering, excellent GM wood wheel,
GM/original in-dash guages, oil and gas work
heater delete, radio blockoff ("delete"), hidden Sony Stereo/CD changer GM (not repro) hi-redline tach (6000 RPM redline)

If the car is in excellent shape-which is Class 1..$30K-this depends on the seller. As the 2dr. ages-it becomes more in demand-its value could climb depending on the numbers of cars produced for that year (72,272).
WORTH-is in the eye of the owner and buyer.

"Worth is in the eye of the owner and buyer"... Duh! Of course, I understand its worth only what someone is willing to pay... But there is usually a "price range" where the price is considered to be reasonable for someone looking for this model of car, which is why I asked for a "rough price range" in the initial post... Not a super high price like one would expect a dealer to ask, and not a "bargain" price that anyone would jump at...

I seem to see alot of "driver" Malibu convertibles "asking" $15K -$20K ( and I don't check Ebay too often)... Not sure where mine fits in... I KNOW that as a "clone", it is worth somewhere between the stock malibu and the SS (to the majority of people).

BTW, the 72,272 production is ALL SS Chevelles for 1966, hardtop AND convertible... Only about 5400+ were SS convertibles... Mine is not an original SS (only about 12,000+ of those non-SS convertibles)...

Sounds like you already know what it's worth.

Well, I'd say somewhere above $20K, but I am not really sure where... I haven't seen "sales" prices for too many "clone" converts...

And on those Malibu convertibles, most (that I recall) seem relatively stock (but not necessarily original) and not too highly optioned (usually mild small block, benchseat, column-shifted auto, etc...).

I don't know if I'd really ever sell. I have had this car for almost 18 years, and its been fun. BUT I am kinda bored, as I have had nothing but 1966 Chevelles/El Caminos for the past 23+ years (I did have a 65 skylark parts car once). I'd like to get something different (maybe a 1970 SS Chevelle hardtop, even a nice clone), and I also still have a 66 SS hardtop I am restoring...

I thought of selling the hardtop, but realized that I don't drop the top on the convertible anymore ( dropped once since replacement a few years ago) but maybe its just a phase...

Heck, I have only driven the car once in the past 10-months (due to family stuff), but I know that will change in the future...

I think you would have a tough time getting over $20k for it. Not to say it's not worth it, but you have to think about the small areas that can bite the "new" buyer(ie rust pinholes in the trunk)

I would say $14-15k for quick sale and probably $17-18k if you are not in a hurry. Of course, if you are not going to sell it....who cares.... :>)
