I am planning to use an inspection service. I had a very successful experience with that in buying a corvette sight unseen as well.

I'm just wondering if anything jumps out about the car....if the price is in line or way outta whack, etc.

It sounds like a fair price but it depends on so many unknown things.

Looks like a good price but like others, pictures can hide a lot. If it's close enough to you visit, it might be worth the trip with cash in hand. I notice there were no takers even at the opening bid and it's apparently been up for sale at least twice with a now lowered price.

Pretty color combination and appears to have all good stuff in it. I'd have to get rid of the wood steering wheel though.

Well it's sold, sorta....to me. I gave him a small deposit which he said he'd refund if the car wasn't as described. It's just going to be tough for me to get there to look at it. I want to make sure the price isn't way off.

It did get a bid at $12k, then I contacted the guy and he ended the auction for an agreed $13k.

If I get it, come check it out. I'm close to you...in Chester Springs, PA.

I know where there is one, an SS for sale. It is pretty cheap, but it has rust.

I'm trying to stay away from rust as much as possible. This has 2 small areas that were rusted according to the seller. The body mounts that are accessible from the trunk and wheel well are affected. He said that he sanded the rust and coated the areas with (pardon my ignorance) something that "hardens to a ceramic like finish" then painted with primer. He claims that there has been no spread of rust in the 7 yrs since he did the resto.

I have an inspector going out to look at the car tomorrow. I'm interested to see what he finds. I can post the report here if anyone cares. It should be interesting to compare that to the auction.

Check the numbers on the 327 too, if its the original then its relatively rare they only put the L74 in the 64's the last month or 6 weeks of production.

The motor actually came out of what the seller said was a 65 Impala SS. The number on the block is 3903352, and if I looked it up correctly, it's out of a 67.

Just out of curiousity, what's that motor worth? He said it ran just fine when removed 7 yrs ago but hasn't been touched since.
