I got some PUI covers and a set of bench seat foams from NPD, and had it installed this week. The upholstry guy said that the foams were the nicest he's seen and the covers were top notch as well. It looks and feels better than new!

I'm glad to hear, I also bought new seatfoam and seatcovers from NPD. Haven't had time to install it yet, but looking forward to it :)

I also bought new springs for the front bucket seats...

I redid my front bench with PUI covers a while ago. Even if the quality and fit is good, they do not look like the original. All the details are there and seem correct, but they are way flatter than they should be. As a matter of fact, they don't look pleated at all, the pleats are just represented by lines in the vinyl. I didn't redo the back seat, so the difference is very noticeable.

Don't know if there are any other covers that would be better, but I still think it would have been easy for PUI to add some more padding in them to make them look right. PUI is supposed to be the best brand on the market so maybe it's just another case of "if you don't buy our products, just try to find something better".

My body guy told me not to use the repop "buns" because they make the seats too hard. He said have an upholstry shop use thier own foam with your new repop covers. Any comments?

Of course I did my 67 about 5 years ago.

Mine were a little too hard and felt like they set up too high at first but it didn't take long before they felt normal again.

ive been thinking about doing the seats in my 66 soon sounds like i'll be looking into the ones from npd , one of my front buckets (driver side) seems to have one or more broken springs , has anyone replaced them ? and if so how big of a deal is it ?

What brand name are the PUI covers and buns? Aren't they PUI branded?
I did our 70 a month or so ago and they came out terrific. At Olle's suggestions and input (thanks bud!), I put an extra 1" foam on top of the buns and they came out nice n' tight.

May want to do that in any re-do short of custom...

Seems like the bucket covers are better, but this is what my bench looks like. Don't get me wrong, it looks great and the quality seems to be just fine, but they're definitely not pleated like the original seats. You can see a little bit of that on the back seat, which still has the original cover.

LOL! :D As a matter of fact, Hefty bags are good help when you recover the seats. Just remember that they are supposed to go under the covers. :D

Olle, I know exactly what you mean about the repro '69 pleats. I have a Malibu with original covers and an SS with PUI covers. The originals are much "puffier". The vinyl is thicker and more durable too.
