I have removed the body from the frame from my 1970 elcamino and am wondering if I might be better off to have it acid dipped instead or sand blasted so the inside will also be clean and the powder coat can stick inside and give some rust protection. has anyone done this and what are the pros and cons and does anyone know where I can get it dipped, I am in Utah. Thanks, Dan

Acid dipping certainly does have advantages over sand blasting, but these are not your only alternatives. See about using a media other than sand, some places have plastic beads, or baking soda processes that work fairly well.
There was talk before about having a frames galvanized like a boat trailer. See if you have a place near you that builds trailers or coats them, they would certainly have contacts for cleaning off the surface rust.
BTW, I'm not real sure how much protection powder coating will provide. If it chips, then water can actually weep in between the metal and the underside of the powdercoat. This makes for a terribly difficult to see/find/fix situation because the water can rust away the frame and leave the powdercoating intact. Sorta like the way termites eat a 2x4 leaving just a hollow shell.

Go over the frame with a 3M abrassive pad in your drill (wearing a mask of course) and make sure you get all the dirt and oil off of the surface (rust can stay and pad will knock off the loose rust). Then, coat with POR-15.
You'll love it graemlins/thumbsup.gif I would think this will save some serious bucks and hastle too graemlins/hurray.gif

I don't think you are going to find a place that actually 'sand-blasts.' Sand-blasting is a mis-nomer. Generally speaking it is actually glass-beads. It just looks like sand.
