: A Reflection

Must of been 8-10 years ago. I opened up the magazine, and flipped through the pages. Always checking for something that stands out, and there it was, an article about a father/son bonding. A weekend project, adding a camshaft, intake, and a few more goodies to an El Camino, and it's little 283. Trying to get a little more power out of this little motor. The following shots had the son, refered to as " The Kid " , tightening down some bolts, doing some adjustments, and sitting behind the wheel of the car. I thought to myself, as I read the text, and looked at the pictures, " NOW THAT'S A DAD I WANT TO BE LIKE WHEN I HAVE KIDS". One who is willing to teach them about " Old Cars" , allow them to make a few mistakes, and show them the right way, but have the patience to allow them to learn on their own. That "Kid" was Cameron, and the Dad in the article, well it was Chuck. I saw him , still refered to as " The Kid", several more times, in other articles, and each time, it impressed me. Chuck always there, teaching him, and showing him things. It made me envious of the bond , and wishful that I will have the same " Bond " with my sons, as I show them things along the way to their maturity. I still have the magazines, all boxed up, and occasionally I go back and read them. Looking at the special bond, between a father and son.

Chuck, I can't imagine the anguish, and feel of helplessness that you must have, being that far away from home, and hearing a tragedy has taken place, and feeling nothing you can do will make it better. The Lord had plans for Cameron, and his passing, as bad as it is that he was taken from you, has already shown his memory will continue on with his organ donations to others. You are in my thoughts and prayers through this hard time.

It's really great that the people really care about eachother when something tragic like this happens. Chuck, you are in all our prayers and we wish you and your family the best through these tough times.
