: would you consider this trade?
ed3196499 Aug 20th, 05, 7:20 PM My brother has a 72 Monte with a 396 its a nice driver car needs some work but all around a nice running good looking car. He has a person that wants to trade him a 67 camaro convertable numbers all match . its got a 327 w/ auto tranny it needs quarters and a passenger door and needs to be refinished. basically its a convert project car. the guy has offered him the camaro plus 1000.00 cash. I think its a decent deal plus if he takes the deal I get his current 68 camaro project car for free.
would you trade?
Rich69RS/SS Aug 20th, 05, 7:35 PM I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Joeks Aug 20th, 05, 7:36 PM I'd do it in a New York second!
Mr69 Aug 21st, 05, 2:13 AM The 67 Camaro convert will always be worth twice as much as that Monte.
If you're smart...............HURRY !
Nate
Chevelle408 Aug 21st, 05, 2:16 AM Make the trade.
Chris R Aug 21st, 05, 5:29 AM And do it before the Camaro guy changes his mind.
And do it before the Camaro guy changes his mind.
Exactly.
72silverchevelle Aug 21st, 05, 1:02 PM You have already wasted to much time typing this! I'ts a great deal.
SS66rag Aug 21st, 05, 1:09 PM look caredfully at the floors, trunk, cowl and all other areas...remember when there's rust....... there is normally MORE RUST!
GRN69CHV Aug 21st, 05, 2:55 PM THe early Camaro's were similiar to the Mustangs of the era for developing rust in the structural areas. Be prepared to replace floor pans and don't even bother to patch unibody frame members - just cut them out and weld in new. I set my '68 Vert up on blocks (w/ motor and trans still intact to preload the chassis) and went front to back cutting out and welding in new. Yes it was a heck of a job, but well worth it in the end.
Mr69 Aug 21st, 05, 4:34 PM Put $25,000.00 into that Camaro and you'll get it all back when you sell. Probably more !
Put $25,000.00 into that Monte Carlo, and.....well......we all know the grim results of that mistake !
The difference in popularity between these two cars is a wide spread.
Did you get the Camaro yet ?
Nate
ed3196499 Aug 21st, 05, 5:44 PM we are going to take a better look at the camaro monday afternoon (I will post pics) the owner is going to pull it outside so we can get a better look at it but it looks like this is a done deal unless we find anything major wrong monday.
thanks for the input all. We thought it was a good trade but its nice to get some other thoughts on something like this
Redrum Aug 21st, 05, 9:28 PM I agree do the trade before the camero owner wakes up!

BINGO!!!!
GRN69CHV Aug 22nd, 05, 12:36 PM Go to my showroom and look at the pics of the '68 White Stang Convertible. That car was the epitome of - major rust - consider parting it out. I have it listed in the showroom to show the end product of my body repair and paint work. Trust me, if that car was saved, anything can be saved.
