So I'll ask here in BS ..no luck on CT01..
OK guys I really need all the help I can get on this one.. I have installed the door & qtr glass but I'm having trouble getting it to align with the weather strip seal and the front glass sealing over the back qtr strip. Who has done this and do you have any tips except for T&E. there isn't much slop in
the assembly but changing any one makes a huge difference.
Also can anyone send me a digital pic of a qtr glass rolled up showing the position of the chrome strip in relation to the glass bump at the top and where it goes through the gasket at the qtr. I would also like a pic of how the glass meets the weather strip.
Of course its the 71 2 door, blah, blah, blah... TIA

Jody, If your too the point where your straightening out your glass, I would take it too a pro! I tried and never got the alignment right either! They shouldn't charge too much as well!

According to the Fisher body manual the quarter window guide is secured to the inner quarter panel at the top and bottom with support brakets which provide both in and out and fore and aft adjustment of the glass. Also, one down-stop and 2 up-stops are provided for alignment operations.
This is the extent of information I can find in the manual(for 72 models)for adjusting the rear quarter glass. I can scan the illustrations and e-mail them if you want me to but other than that there's not much to go on.

Thanks James.. I have read the body manual and was really trying to find some first hand experience (i.e. tricks) with messing with these things. I guess its all trial & error.. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif
I already have spent most all of a weekend on one side and its still not even close.

I spend many hours with the alignment on my car. I had to do doors, fenders, hood, and all windows. What a pain.
On the rear quarters of my car I found there was one main track that it basically ran in and then another small one just to hold the back of the window in/out. So, I loosened the small track and adjusted the main one until the window went up and down right. Then, I set the in and out.
I think you have to start at the front glass and get it aligned with the body. Then, get the quarter glass to meet all around as best as you can. In all likelyhood, the glass will not fit perfectly all round. I have yet to find anything on my car that lines up and fits perfectly. I just get it as close as I can.

I just dropped you an E-mail with a good graphic trying to explain how the various adjustments work.
I couldnt figure out how to post it to this board. Maybe someone smarter that myself can do it.
Good luck

Thanks Guys,
I wrestled with this monster all weekend.. I got one side pretty close after moving my weather strip rail out some. The other meets the strip great but I can't get the door and qtr to meet. I also have the problem on BOTH sides that if the glass is up and you shut the door it seals OK.. if you close the door and roll up the window it gets all crazy and doesn't want to seal or meet the qtr.. I can get it right one way but not both... I'll stay at it..Clark that is a great picture. Thanks..
I love this job........... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
