My friend gave me a 60 gallon compressor, it needed a rod, it's fixed now. Now for the ? Is it big enough for painting? It is a 60 gallon compressor. It says it will deliver 14.2 scfm @ 40psi and 9.9 scfm @ 90psi. I have been reading a book and it sounds like from my reading that it is sufficient, but figured I would get some input from someone who actually does paint. Thanks for your help.

I'd have to look at the exact CFM rating for my compressor but its a 5hp 60 gal and has painted dozens of cars. It does run almost nonstop while spraying tho, get you some good filters/water traps and get after it!

You can add another tank for more storage capacity, That way you'll be able to spray twice as far before the pressure drop kicks the compressor on.

Sounds good! Believe mine is a 6 horse. I already have two water traps, when I pipe it I will probably add another trap and the filters.
Thanks

I am trying to figure out how to keep moisture out of my air lines...without going broke$$$. I currently have a filter in line. I have been thinking about running the air lines up the wall and overhead. Are that any tricks that would aid in the removal of moisture, such as a low point in the system with another filter? I am assuming the moisture will settle in the lowest points of the system. Thanks.

I did a goggle search on auto painting and there are a lot of sites that will have drawings of how to pipe your compressor. They include the water traps. See Ya. If you can't find any on google I believe I saved them in my favorites, let me know, and I will post them.
