Has any one bought the factory 69 fenders that you can get at the dealer? Do they fit correctly? I have a pretty good set but brand new would be better. I have bought several new gm parts that are very similar to what I removed from my car but are not identicle. I have tried (and fought) with aftermarket fenders on other cars, don't want to deal with that again. Any imput would be great....

I have a set that I purchased for the Malibu when I get around to painting it. They look good but I have yet to mount them, I will say that one of them came with a pre-existing dent, small mind you but it is there. The parts guy said that there is no guarantee that they will be perfect.
At the time I was lead to believe that GM was getting ready to run out of 69 fenders so I was just happy to have some rust free front fenders, this is the on real problem on the body of our car.
I have read about the latest batch of fenders that they are now selling are not complete that they are missing the inner portion (the portion that the hood attaches to). Check it out before you fork out the $$$, this would not be a good thing.

Any one?....Any one?....
There have been a bunch of posts on this subject of late. Just do a search for 69 fenders. The problem I think is that GM no longer makes the 69 fenders, and have just been selling their accumulated stock, and as the supply dwindles, they raise the price (up to almost $600 as of a few weeks ago). There are repros available, but I hear they are hit or miss. The NOS route is getting pretty spendy - the guy I bought my used fenders from paid $1200 EACH for a pair of NOS 69 fenders. I picked up a set of used fenders which needed work. That was ok by me, since I need the practice. One of them turned out to be a 68 fender with the marker lamp hole welded over, but it was fine since other than that they are identical to the 69 fenders. In an ideal world I would have been able to get great new original quality metal for a reasonable price, but in the end I had to settle for less than perfect and add some sweat equity.
Cheers,
Andy

I am curious as to how well these new factory fenders fit. I did not hear that the inners are not complete, I'll check into that. I have a good freind that works at the local dealer that quoted me in the neighborhood of $325.00 each and found them available close by. (that's not retail, that's cost + a small mark up) If I buy them, they are mine, I can't return them unless they are damaged but even then I can only exchange them or get a credit. I have a pretty nice original pair I removed from a parts car but man would this make life easier. I bought aftermarket fenders for a first gen camaro a few years back, talk about a nightmare, they looked horrible, didn't fit, lines didn't match up, never want to do that again. I'll check again to see about this increase in cost, hope that's not the case. Thanks for your input everybody...
