Any ideas on how they made the underside of the hood like this? This is how I want mine!

Looks like chrome to me?

To me it looks like that chrome tape you can buy. I can see the "edges" of the tape. Or it could be some type of thin sheet metal. In any regard, you can tell it's pieced together by looking at all the "seams"....

Not sure I agree that its tape, almost looks chromed but the pic is not good enough to tell for sure. The 'seams', to me, appear to be the edges of the original metal used to form the underside of the hood. The center cowl induction plenum is tack welded in just as it appears in the pic.

It was discussed in Bench Racing a couple months ago, that there is now a "Chrome Paint" that is very convincing.

Has anyone heard anything from Tom about how it turned out? Last thing he posted was that he was expecting to get the bumper pretty soon, but then he went quiet. He seemed to be really excited about it, so I'm wondering why he didn't follow up on this.

As I recall, the guy who did the work posted some shots of the finished product, didn't he...?
"xxxChrome" or something like that?

The "chrome" place did post pix before shipping, but Tom never said anything about receving it. He said that he was going to post an update with the total cost for the bumper, but he never did. I'm just wondering if there was a problem, or did he do it in a separate thread somewhere?

The chrome paint is very, very expensive and the color you get is not as good as is shown in the picture at the start of this thread. The color looks more like a slightly tarnished silver. We have used this paint on some prototype models at work.

I suppose it could be powdercoated. Did you notice the line in the top right opening where it looks like it is peeling?

Chrome the entire hood and paint the top. I have seen this done with tail gates so you end up with chrome letter.
