Sc&c gm a body hd chassis braces!!!

We`ve been working on these on and off for about 10 years. Our G body HD chassis braces have been a popular upgrade for those cars for 15 years but the huge amount of variation in A body frames posed a real design challenge. Finally though, they`re here! We have separate braces for `64-`67 and `68-`72 cars. The point of all the HD braces is to add a large degree of chassis triangulation to a simple ladder chassis that has none. This improves torsional stiffness and helps prevent the ladder frame from parallelogram-ing under turning loads. The result is a tighter feeling car, with less creaks and rattles, more consistent body gaps and more responsive steering. Check them out at:

Any advantage using this with stock configuration?

Or is Pro-Touring set-up required?

Re: Sc&c gm a body hd chassis braces!!!

From what I understand, this can be used on any A-body car Chevelle regardless of your suspension set up. It will stiffen up the front of the chassis. I am in the process of upgrading my '66 with SC&C, SPC, Hellwig and Hotchkis parts and after a long discussion with Mark about the advantages of this brace on the stock chassis, I am also adding it.

Hate to bring this back from the dead but does anyone have a copy of the instructions for this kit? Any real world feedback? The frames on our cars are a joke.

Where is the cheapest place to buy this? So far I've only seen one person running it, was also curious to see if anyone else had any feedback.

ID:	345537i ended buying from Savitske. The installation was easy and it made a tremendous difference in handling. Savitske I believe is the only one who sells.

My only gripe is it hangs a lil low.

Re: Sc&c gm a body hd chassis braces!!!

I might do that then, maybe wait and see if they ever do free shipping or something since I'm in no hurry. Is it powder coated or anything? You don't happen to have a picture of it with your car on the ground by any chance do you? If not it's not big deal. My car is pretty low, but the setup they have on the product page looks to be almost my exact setup so I'm guessing it would work. Might help take some slack out of the flexy vert body. Thanks for the info.

Oh, no hurry, I won't even be back home for a few months. Don't go out of your way, but if you happen to get one sometime it could be helpful.
Thanks again

Re: Sc&c gm a body hd chassis braces!!!

Yeah, that does. It certainly is a bit low, but I suppose if I were going to scrape a curb I'd rather hit it early with the brace and be able to stop instead of hitting it with the oil pan and being screwed.
This looks like it might be worth a shot, but buying one make me feel like I also need to get that UMI rear shock tower brace. I think it's only $130 or so, which isn't too terribly bad.
Thanks for the pic

Re: Sc&c gm a body hd chassis braces!!!

Glad to help.

I have all in this pic along with the front brace and my car handles like a modern Camaro.

Re: Sc&c gm a body hd chassis braces!!!

How does the SC&C brace actually attach to the frame? At the crossmember under the engine it looks like it bolts to the front of it, but how do you get nuts inside the crossmember to run the bolt into?

Re: Sc&c gm a body hd chassis braces!!!

Rich- you place the part on the under side, make sure it's even, mark your holes everywhere and drill. The ones at the K Member you have to tap and then torque all to 35#

VERY VERY IMPORTANT THE FRAME AND SUSPENSION MUST BE LOADED. You can not place on jacks rands as the frame moves and bends. Must use ramps. Took me 35 mins to do the install.
