Please accept my apologies. Some of you know but I lost my Mom yesterday. She had battled breast cancer for 8 years after she was told she had 3 years. Some of you know she had been my roommate for most of this time. She had made the decision to move to Hilton Head, SC with my sister back during the holidays. We found out in June the cancer had spread to her brain. We spent the 4th of July with Mom for the last time. She went peacefully on Tuesday morning. I'm trying to stay busy but I can't take calls right now as some of you know that have called my cell. Please give me a few days as I deal with this and I will get back to you.
My deepest and most sincere sympathies, Chris. I've lost my father and two grandparents to cancer. I obviously hate the "C" word.
Once things settle back down, try not to focus on what has been lost. Instead, try to focus on what remains: family, friends, stories, memories...recollections of your mom's smile, when she was young and healthy.
Parents rarely leave us completely. Part of them stays around....so long as we stay around. They leave something behind that stays with us long after they leave this Earth. Their wisdom, sense of humor, acts of kindness....still linger.
They are typically deeply missed....but rarely forgotten.
Sorry to hear this. A few days isn't enough. It's 25 years for me, and I still miss her. Mom's are special.
