18 and 19 SEP BREMERTON Offical Results

Just in from the track. Very warm, 80+ not 70 as forecast....
I was off pace as usual 1st pass. Pass 2&3 would have been great bracket passes, 12.97 and 12.96 at low 103. Better than Pass #1 but slow...fair considering the heat and DA. Cooling challenges still not resolved.

Launching was off, Bogging bad. I suspected the new 1/4" thick Holley carb isolator now. Then tightened the carb a bit. Next pass, slightly cooler temps, more stall against the converter vs off idle (trying to 'drive around' my issue), ran a 12.8. The car was not cooling well, got mega hot in the staging lanes. Last passes were slower with a decided miss..... Of course she ran great on the way home.

1st, will fix the cooling. Coulda been the carb boiling for all I know. I do not want to scrap the fancy underdrive pulley...so will start with a new Aluminum hi-flow WP and more basic cooling ideas. If that doesn't do it, new mega-monster radiator (I have a newish 3-core in there). Glad I can save a few bucks on this stuff...

Great to see Ben "Rambo" and Erik at the track with their cars. Cobalt Mike and Mike Parker also in attendence. Some cool rides there and it was BOP weekend so lots of stuff there you seldom see....421" Grand Prix rocked.

Re: 18 and 19 SEP BREMERTON Offical Results

Had a great time... got 6 runs in with plenty of time to hang out and watch.

The ole Gutlass cutlass just couldn't quite break into the elusive 15's. best was a 16.02, crappy launch, and left it in 2nd gear at 6500 rpm through the traps. Still 1/2 second faster than the may outting.

A new powerplant definitely is in order. Leaning back towards a BBC instead of a BBO powerplant as core costs appear to be the same.

Anyway, here are some pics & vids that i took, click the thumbnails.

Just to let you guys know the DA at 4:55pm was 1898ft. This means George should have run a corrected 12.81 @ 103.5 mph at 12.51 @ 105.8 MPH

Re: 18 and 19 SEP BREMERTON Offical Results

12.81 @ 103.5 mph corrected to 12.51 @ 105.8 MPH. Would indeed be sweet for a low buck 454 street cruiser to run 12.51/105.8 without correcting....

Off to earn some buck to pay for the upgraded cooling and etc then sort out what's what next week...AND to put on the air bags.
