70 SS tribute

My search continues!

What are everyone's thoughts on this one?

I am thinking a little overpriced, but a nice looking car. School me, please!

Oh no the dreaded green Run Forest Run. Only kidding some people hate green cars they must have been forced to eat broccoli when they were young.

My wife hates the color! For some reason, it makes me like it a little more...

That's funny because when my wife came home and saw my car in the driveway and I told her I bought it as the steam was coming out of her ears she said that's got to be the ugliest color car you ever bought. I have to admit I hated the color myself when these cars were new but now with the clear coats it just pops. I've told a lot of people when they look at it that a lot of people hate green and I haven't had a one that knocked it and most said it really stands out because most Chevelles are either black, blue, or red.

Love the exterior paint color. What I dislike is the green interior.

Looks like a decent car at first glance, obviously needs an inspection.

Lol @ "tribute" to a dime a dozen car. These are just knock-offs or posers.

Re: 70 SS tribute

If your budget will allow spend more for one that has the round gauge pods and a big block, as well as the right emlbems. I would automatically default to the position that a finished car missing those things was done on the cheap. Because of that I'd be leary of what looks like fairly fresh paint and underlying prep, especially in Florida. As always, it needs a thorough inspection by a body shop, on a lift.

If also want to know how long the seller has owned the car. Far too many pretty looking cars start deteriorating one to two years after completion, if want to know if this fell into that window. I have several friends who have bought cars which seemed like a good deal from sellers that were passing their mistakes onto someone else while the car still looked presentable.

Re: 70 SS tribute

Hey Ryan. Yeah that black '70 SS clone was the kind I had in mind when I threw out the ~$20k number in the PM's.

As already mentioned, the swept gauge and other things make me question the build. Was it a quick flip? Or maybe this was a little by little project for this "kid/son" and they hadn't gotten around to the gauges yet? Maybe it has a 350 in it because the dad doesn't want his son to have BBC power at his disposal? Maybe the guy figured his kid would wreck it anyway, so why bother with details?

Either way this one or the black '70 is better than the 4 door we were talking about!! That black '70 would be easier to resell probably, as well.

Also to Steve R's point above, as I was giving you specs on my '72 before, it was done around 8 years ago but looks like it was built 6 months ago and someone put a few hundred miles on it. In other words it was not slapped together. All goes back to how was it built and why was it built.

Tribute to what? Other small block Malibus? Here's my biggest peeve. "Needs a summer charge" AC is huge in Flariduh! If it works, make it work on that $14k car!
