1970 CHEVELLE SS 454 Unrestored great condition Low Resreve

I want to believe!!

He states "This is a real SS, everything an SS has this has including a working Cowl Induction Hood. How many clones out there have a working cowl hood? The answer is ZERO."

My answer: I don't know?

Does this look like a legit LS5? Column shifter and bench seats?

Re: 1970 CHEVELLE SS 454 Unrestored great condition Low Resreve

A question was asked about a buildsheet and the seller said he didn't know. I would think that would be the first thing I would look for.
A CI engine installed in 1972. Would be great if that included paperwork.
Nothing to indicate it is or is not an SS. Seller states factory components and mentions 58,000 original miles-cannot verify any of this.
Takes away from what looks like a good car. I would say priced right for a NOM driver car. I like it!

I'll make it easy. 03A is too early for any 454.

Re: 1970 CHEVELLE SS 454 Unrestored great condition Low Resreve

I was looking at this car just out of curiosity a few days ago.
I don't see the correct proportioning valve on the brake booster.
Notice the Holley Mighty Mite electric fuel pump on the passenger fender.Looks like it has a 600 cfm Holley on it too. And the 30 year old bias ply tires.
Looks like a fun driver car but no way that buy it now price is worth it. I can see some clueless guy paying that price and end up upside down and frustrated if he doesn't know how to work on it.
JMHO,observations and experience.

Yep, I agree. I saw this one too, just because I was curious.

How many clones have a working cowl induction?? SERIOUSLY???? Umm..... who knows but MANY from the research I have done.

Using that as a bench mark that it is a "real ss" throws up a HUGE red flag to me. If he wanted to know, he would look for a buildsheet and then state either there is one or he didn't find one. He is playing games hoping to find an ignorant person to buy it without knowing.

Andy,03A is the 1st week of March, not too early at all, right in prime time.Ask him what the code is stamped in the axle tube on the passenger side. That will give you a pretty good indicator about whether it's a 454 or not.

What you have is lipstick on a pig. It is an early Atlanta Malibu, in green, with a green vinyl roof, and a green bench seat. The SS parts are pretty much not there. Two piece steering shaft, tabbed rad cover, brake holdoff valve, there aint no sign of the cowl induction air cleaner to be found.

Plus it is just too old by around 8 months to be a 454 anything.

Pretty pretty pig it is.

I know my eye sight is not good but it looks like the carb is held down with screws. If you look at the picture taken from the battery area looking towards the carb you can see what looks like a screw in the front corner. The fuel line routing is nice also.

Re: 1970 CHEVELLE SS 454 Unrestored great condition Low Resreve

I agree on the slot/head screw holding down the carb. The dash has the small letters for the wipers & lighter ( Like a repo dash). I like the TWO groove truck Alt.//Fan shroud? ?? Master cyl, from WHAT ? Rad. top plate from what? Fan Blade from WHAT?
NO blue ser. # on D. Door? NO-LS-5 T.C.S. Equip. under the hood?
Sure looks different under the hood, Than my one owner LS-5.
Did someone say something about " Lipstick "
Could this be a " Run Forrest Run "?.

Correct. Those fasteners usually come with the squarebore to spreadbore carb adapters and are for attaching the spacer/adapter to the intake.
Old school hackery on this car. Not that difficult or expensive to install studs/nuts.
LMAO on the seller lowering the buy it now price by $400
I do like the 1970 LS5 vette he has for sale..I can picture myself beating the snot out of that car
