eBay Complete 69 SS Project

Here's one that looks interesting enough to watch:

1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SUPER SPORT

The good:
  • Looks to be a realistic eBay seller - low starting price with no reserve
  • Appears to be a complete, original SS
  • Kansas City car, so should continue the "L" speculation on the trim tag (I've asked him to post a picture of the tag)
  • Looks to be a desirable original color (Lemans blue)
  • Vinyl top car (I'm guessing black) with the molding still intact.

The bad:
  • This car is going to need EVERYTHING. Easily sink >$50k into it for a top quality resto unless you do all the work yourself.
  • 325hp automatic - edit: nothing inherently "bad" about L35/TH400 but could affect value.
  • Extra expense of AC (not a bad option but I know about this headache)
  • Pretty poor feedback for the seller

I'm looking forward to seeing what it goes for.

Re: eBay Complete 69 SS Project

How can you be a top rated seller with 92% feedback?

....watching too, because that's the exact combination an old friend had for his first car.

Re: eBay Complete 69 SS Project

Looks like a good starting point. Looks like all there and relatively unmolested. If you have to replace most of the sheet metal, might as well start with a cheap one. If I were to start another '69 SS project, this one is equipped the way I'd want (except color of course).

Looks really rusty for a Nevada car. Got some radiused wheel wells back in the day.

Right, not Garnet red!

I'm guessing this one will go $6-8k. Playing a safety with a nice wide range.

Re: eBay Complete 69 SS Project

The guy selling the 70 know which panels he would replace if keeping it, but does not know the condition of the floor. Really?

Re: eBay Complete 69 SS Project

When I looked at the ad the first time I did not look at the pictures. I just read the description. There is a lot more going on than just the headlights on that 70. Check out that grille arrangement, with chunks of a 72 grille along side the 70 grille. This is a real work of art. LOL.

Re: eBay Complete 69 SS Project

There is lots of things besides the headlights, that was just an example. How about the steering wheel? There is lots to look at. Sad thing is someone is going to buy this heap.

At least its a running 69SS. Get a title, clean out the interior and trunk. Fresh fluids, belts hoses and tires. And see if its drivable. Driving it while you decide make a plan of attack. Thats when someone with more money than sense will probably make a offer on it then sell it. Jim

That was a tempting project. I'm glad it wasn't closer to home!
