64 Chevelle

While this is not an SS (or a 65), this appears to be a nice car...

Re: 64 Chevelle

AWESOME car. I love 64's.
I think anything under $8,000 is a steal on this car. My opinion.

I'd drive it as-is, hubcaps and all.
Well maybe switch out the carpet and put a headliner in it- stuff like that.

I think my new order of favorites is 1969, then 64, 65, 70, 71, 72.

I agree, car looks pretty good.. 69, 64 and 70 for me... 64 being the year I was hatched is what makes these a little more attractive..
I am going to watch this one to see what happens, may toss in a bid if it doesn't get too crazy.

It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Re: 64 Chevelle

I like the 64 a lot, reminds me of a mix between the impala and Chevy II.
On that particular 64, I wouldn't even care about the 283 and powerglide- I'd cruise it just like it is.

The year I was hatched they came out with some UGLY cars, clothes, homes...

Pull up craigslist or ebay and type in just the year you were born and see what comes up, interesting.

Re: 64 Chevelle

There are not many issues with that 50 year old car. Drive mostly as is with minor fix up.

Or a good platform for a sleeper. Leave exterior and install turbocharged 427 with beefed up 200R4, a 12 bolt and go hunting.

Re: 64 Chevelle

I offered him $6,500 cash and he declined, hoping for around $8,500 to end the auction early. Too rich for my blood.

Re: 64 Chevelle

If the auction runs its course I would bet it goes higher than $8,500. Patina is hot right now, and it's got the right look. It's a nice car, they have become hard to find in this condition but they are out there, the trick is to find one at a reasonable price, before it hits the wider market such as CL and eBay.

Good luck with your search and keep looking, something will turn up.

Re: 64 Chevelle

And I personally think it is 135,000. Our car, with 77,000 original miles looks like it just rolled off the showroom compared to this car.

Sorry, I would have replied sooner but I've been busy moving this past weekend. As far as the car goes it's nice but I would not be happy with it. Of course it's your decision (as it should be), so if YOU like it then "go for it".

Re: 64 Chevelle

Looks like the perfect start to a project if you don't want to get caught up with rust work. Not sure I believe the milage not that it's a lie it just that these old odometer's flip over when it hits 100k. I work at a used car dealer and you can tell the difference between a car with 35k vs 135k. 35k should have almost 100% original parts not that they would all be good after 50 years.

Re: 64 Chevelle

It's now at $8,100 with 3 days left. Starting to get a little pricey for a non SS car, IMO. Although survivors are cool, I'd think it's 135,000 miles also.

That is a nice car.
Lots of options.
I wonder what the reserve is?
