1966 date coded Muncie 4-speed

I have what I believe to be a M20 Muncie four speed out of a 1966 SS Chevelle. It was my fathers and for some reason even though he sold the car in the early seventies he kept the transmission (even moving with it several times, even across country). I think he replaced it with a M22.

The numbers stamped on it indicate that it is indeed out of his '66 Chevelle. The only thing I'm unsure of is if it is an M20 or not.

How can I go about getting a value on this? I don't have any use for it and unless I can find my dad's old car I don't want to keep it.

It is just as it was when it was pulled forty years ago. I'm sure it will need to be rebuilt.

AAron,

Depending on the overall condition of the trans they can bring decent money. I just sold a 69' date coded M20 that had been rebuilt and I completely refinished the exterior. So this unit was pristine inside and out (except for a chipped bolt boss on tailshaft). I was asking $825 and sold it for $700.

Would I be out of line asking $450? Assuming it is dirty and greasy and needs rebuilt.

$450 is not dirt cheap for a dirty, nasty trans that needs rebuilding. I know I wouldn't pay over $400 for a core, unless it was an M22 or something.
