Fuel tank question on a 64

Hey guys just a quickie here. I have a new tank and noticed there are two openings on it. One on the upper passenger corner, and one in or out line on the float/sending unit. Which one does what?

I think the one you pinky finger is pointing at is for the vent line that goes to the canister under the hood, just a guess I could be wrong.

no charcoal canister under the hood on a 64. the small one in the upper corner is a vent line that connects via hose to a other vent line that runs up into the trunk and back out

Thanks. That makes sense I see the steal looped line in the trunk on the right. I would have guessed it was the other way around. So the one in the center is the main feed line that goes to the engine/carb/fuel pump .

Do you guys know if there is a padding or material that goes in between the fuel tank and the metal straps that hold the tank up?

Yes, there is an anti squeak material available. Some folks use strap material, heck, i saw one fella use several layers of duct tape. The original appeared to be sort of a felt like material.
