Can anyone identify this?

Hey! I am still looking for an identity for this 65 Chevelle, Deluxe 300 part.
Pretty sure it's from the interior, maybe the ashtray.

Any real help is appreciated!

Re: Can anyone identify this?

I've had a number of 65's in my time. A few even now. I don't recall ever seeing a part like this on one. However, I've never owned a post car. I can't imagine that making a difference. If you ever find out I'd be interested in knowing myself.

I've stripped a 65 300 deluxe down and also have not seen a part like this. Could it possibly have to do with the radio speaker?

Looks to me like it would fasten a piece of trim to the body or dash?

Throw it away. Right after that you'll find out where it should have been.

Re: Can anyone identify this?

Not part of 65 ash tray.
Not part of 65 speaker mounting.
I don't recognize it as a 65 part and I have dismantled a number of them. Even put some of them back together.

What are the dimensions?

Looks like something that might hold a door panel or kick panel on.

1970 Chevelle Malibu. Red. Did it come in another color?

Re: Can anyone identify this?

fire extingisher mount? those two prongs sticking up are for passing thru a hole to 'attach', and then you see on both ends where a rod can pass thru, or a belt to hook on too...

Re: Can anyone identify this?

Could it be for mounting one of those triangle bottles that hold windshield washer fluid ? Like rod said the two prongs go into two equal spaced holes and that mounts the mystery piece and then the strap attaches the bottle to that mystery piece.
Those two pointy parts or prongs are definitely for mounting that piece wherever it fits.
