Re: How much do coil springs "settle"
Rule of thumb is springs will settle but nowhere near 1/2 to 1", more like 1/4" at the most unless they are crap material springs. Alignment will effect ride height slightly too, if the suspension has lots of postitive camber it will hold the front end up and lots of negative the car will drop. Always roll the car back and forth after a spring change because a load on the tires coming off the jack can change the ride height. Cut small amounts off the spring, NEVER large amounts like a full coil, it is better to sneek up on it rather than buy a second set of springs. Leave all the bushing point bolts loose until ride height is set so not to load the suspension and send the bushing to an early grave.
Life's journey is not about arriving at the gate well preserved, it's about skidding in sideways, all used up and worn out yelling........GOD, what a ride!!!!
