Identifying 1967 radio

I'm heading to the Portland Swap meet and on my list is an original radio.
Core is fine as long as it is in good aesthetic shape.
I want to find the push button AM model.
Most I see on line still have the model tag on them , example, model 986528 .
Does anyone know the model of the 1967 AM push button radio?
And just in case I get really lucky, does anyone know the model of the 1967 AM/FM model?
Are there any other ways to make sure it is a 1967 for my Chevelle?

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!!

Re: Identifying 1967 radio

I have the original AM radio for my '67. It is in a box on the shelf. When I get home in a couple hours I can take some pic's if it will help.

Re: Identifying 1967 radio

The 986528 model number is for a 66 Chevelle, and looks almost identical to the 67. They will interchange and unless you're looking for year correct only, either one is OK. The 67 AM/FM model is 986854, if you find one, you better have deep pockets. All the 67 AM/FM units I've seen were real spendy.

Re: Identifying 1967 radio

1966 and 1967 radios are NOT identical.

Please check out the Radio Tech pages for pictures, model numbers, identification tips etc:

Re: Identifying 1967 radio

Coppertop is correct, there's a slight difference in the shape of the preset buttons. The 66 radio has pushbuttons that are perfectly rectangular while on the 67 the tips are slightly rounded. As I stated above, unless you're a purist wanting the exactly correct radio, either one is just fine.
