I own a '70SS 396 Turbo400 factory a/c car. I replaced the radiator last week with an aftermarket 3-row. The original I took out appeared to be a 3-row. Did GM offer a 4-row for that year? Just curious.
I believe they did offer a 4 row. Think one got a 4 row with air conditioning. Don't quote me on this but may have gotten a 4 row with a 454. They are fairly common as they came in a lot of the big cars such as Cadillac and station wagons/etc.
I have a one owner 1970-LS-5/ M22. In 1970 When Fac. A/C was ordered with the Z-15/Z-25 Pkg. The cooling system was Called H.D. or VO-1.
With the pkg. The car would get the (wide) VO-1 core support,,4 bolt top plate,,Four row Cop/Brass Rad,, 3947772 fan blade,,Eaton fan clutch, & shroud.
My fac. A/C 70 SS 454-4 speed has the 4 speed Rad. tanks. My tanks are stamped " XJ " & " IF ". The 1970 4 speed cars, Did not have the cooler line outlets on the Pass. side Rad. tank. I may have missed something, Not sure?

The VO-1 cooling was part of the C-60 A/C Pkg. Also with the A/C pkg. you got a 61 Amp. Delcotron. ( A/C Cars had the 61 Amp. Alt). Non A/C cars had the 37 Amp. Alt.

In 1970 Chevy had a big list of options, That could be had on ANY Chevy " A " body. Gauges, Buckets, Trannys, And the list goes on. Some options on the list came with attachments. When I first ordered my 70 El Camino, I ordered an LS-6 along with F-41 & A/C.
Well that was not going to happen ,,, So I Re/Order, WHY?
NO -A/C with an LS-6 so I go for the LS-5.. A/C is OK with this.
NO- F-41 Suspension on the SS 454 El Caminos. ( only F-40 and NO rear sway bar), I think due to wheelbase and ALL El Caminos 6 cyl. & LS-6 El Caminos had " Superlifts " AKA factory Air Shocks.
P.S. ,,If you see a 68-72 El Camino with a rear sway bar, It was not done at the factory, I had my sway bar installed on my Camino in June of 1970 at Sahli Chevrolet, Total cost parts & Labor $74/76.00 dollars dont remember.
I had 50 or 60 bucks and borrowed $25.00 from my sister to pay for it.

Not all options were available with ANY Chevelle. Buckets could only be ordered on a Malibu sport coupe/convertible/pickup. Transmissions were limited by the engine selected, i.e. no Powerglide behind a big block just as no M22 behind an L6. Same with gauge option, only V8 Malibu sport coupe/convertible/pickup. F41 could NOT be ordered on any El Camino since all El Caminos came with air adjustable rear shocks; F40 HD suspension yes, F41 never. Air shocks were not due to wheelbase. Station wagons had the same wheelbase as the El Camino since 1968 and the same wheelbase from 64-67, all El Caminos came with air shocks from 64 on.
RPO V01 HD radiator was optional in all Chevelles in 1970 though.
I do know after I had the Rear sway bar installed on my El Camino in 1970. I had a steering issue. On a dirt or gravel road, It always wanted to go in a straight line. Also on a wet road, It did not want to turn well.
One must remember, When you are in your 20s, You DO NOT understand it is not real smart to mix & match suspension parts. Why did I have a sway bar installed in the rear of my Camino in 1970, Very simple, My buddy Bill Glasser just bought a Blue SS 454 2 Dr. and his car had one, So I wanted one.
Could have been a Monkey See Monkey Do, I dont know. I do believe, I was a lot smarter in my 20s than I am now. I was just brilliant.

Think about it........ Sway bar on the back of an 70 El Camino along with air shocks, not a good idea. I think the NUT behind the wheel need tightened!
I'm not mechanically engineered enough (or really care at this point) to pretend to understand why no rear sway bar on El Caminos unless it had to do with the load capacity. Weren't the standard air shocks only really there to bring the 'bed' up to level under a heavy load? I'm like you, I bought a 67 El Camino years back that had a rear sway bar but regular shocks. Didn't really haul much more than bags of mulch for the wife and used air bags in the springs to 'stiffen' it up a bit on those occasions. If someone knows the engineering reason behind it, I'd be curious though.
