I'm looking for a charcoal grey color to paint my 68. I noticed that the 69 and 70 chevelle have a dark grey color on the paint chart. I was wondering if anybody has the color on their velle or have seen one with the color and if they can tell me if its like a charcoal grey color. I want a dark grey but i need it light enough to run my black body stripes. Thanks, Kevin

I believe you are talking about Shadow Grey. If you are not looking for correctness (obviously) there are some great late model dark grey colors you may consider as well.

Before its current orange paint scheme, my 67 was painted a 1987 Buick T-Type Medium Gray Metallic (GM Code 15)

1968 didn't offer a silver or gray color but 1969 and 1970 did have a "Cortez Silver" and 1970 also had a "Shadow Gray" that was a bit darker. See here for 70 colors. I have pictures of both 69 and 70 silver Chevelles here. Just click the appropriate year link.

Thanks for the replys so far. You all have nice velles. My original color is sequoia green. This color looks kinda grey in the pics I have when my dad bought the car when he came out of nam but the pics are old and it's hard to tell. I assume it's more green then grey. When my dad went to paint the car he sprayed it charcoal grey from a 67 buick color. I dont know why he changed the color to grey but it looks real good that color and I cant find out since he's passed away almost 6 years now. I tried to get that code mixed but they say that they cant mix it in base clear. They gave me samples but they dont match. I noticed that the 69 paint chart that they had a deep grey color but didnt know if it came on chevelles. Dale would you consider your paint color darker or lighter then shadow grey and would you be able to see black body stripes over your color. Thanks, Kevin

Thanks Leo!

My paint color is called "Medium Pewter Poly Metallic". My '69 was originally Cortez Silver (code 69) but 17 years ago, I didn't like Cortez Silver. Kinda like it now though.

Check out my sig for some more pics.
