71-72 bumper emblem placement?

I tried to research this topic but didn't find any definitive answers.

I'm installing a replacment bumper on my SS and would like to know where to drill the holes. I heard at one time it should be 3 1/2 inches from the top of the bumper and centered side to side.

I have a cloth measuring tape and just want to make sure!

I made a paper template of the SS badge with the holes on it, taped it to the bumper and just eye-balled it. When I get it centered it where I liked it, I marked the holes and drilled them. I drilled the holes a little bigger than the bolts on the badge. You just need to use washers then, but it allows you some play to move it around a little if you need to.

On an original bumper, one hole ( I believe it's the rh) is elongated.

Re: 71-72 bumper emblem placement?

I took the plunge yesterday and drilled the holes in my new bumper! I asked a local restoration shop that specializes in chevelle restrorations. It's 3 1/2 inches from the top of the bumper. I can upload pics of the results if anybody want's a reference. thanks
