how can I verify if my car is numbers matching

I have a 1968 chevelle Malibu convertible 327 I am considering selling this car and would like to verify if it is the numbers matching engine
any tips will be appreciated. If so what do you think a car like this would be worth? New paint job in 2002 ( new front fenders and rear quarters) new manual top new door panels blue,, new carpet repainted dash and dash bezel new dash pad 14 inch rally wheels, new bf goodrich ta radials, electronic mallory ignition, edelbrock performer carb and manifold.headers dual exhaust. muncie m21 4 speed trans. new auto meter tach oil and temp gauges, new cam car looks great and has been garage kept by me for 25 years. Lemans blue.

I never make mistakes, but on occasion I present myself with an opportunity to get very creative.

Very doubtful if you will find a build sheet in a '68.
Check here- www.chevellestuff.com You can find the engine #'s on the pad in front of the right cylinder head, if the last #'s on the pad match the last #'s of the VIN, then you have the original motor.

the only build sheets I've heard being found in 68's were from the GM plant in Freemont CA & even then there are only a couple of them .. In El Caminos !!

Even if it is the #'s engine, it would be worth more if you still have the carb, manifold, ignition, etc. Many of us change to more "reliable" pieces so we can drive them, but always save the original parts in case you want to sell.
