TH350 & TH400 converters the same?

Are TH350 and TH400 all interchangeable? I've done it in the past and almost all aftermarket converters are listed for both.

I'm asking because I bought a TCI towing converter for my truck with a TH400. I had to order the one for the TH350 (seperate one listed for TH400) because I needed the smaller torque converter bolt circle. Since install I've had a slight whine from the front pump/converter at idle, in gear, once the truck gets warm. We had the pump apart a few months before that to replace the seal and front pump bushing. I had no noise after that until I swapped converters.

Anyways, in the spring, I want to send the converter back to TCI for a rebuild if I can indeed use it. I'll inspect the pump at the same time but do not feel its the pump.

Thoughts? Only want to do this once...R&R'ing a TH400 w/ NP208 hangin off the back is no fun on the ground! lol
