TH350 kickdown cable install

I have the lower plastic base of my kickdown cable broken (on the transmission side) so I have to remove it and get a new one.
I removed the screw (attachcing the cable base to the transmission block) and see the inner cable going inside.
but I don't know what should I do next?
Do I have to remove the pan to free up the cable end in side the trans?
Anybody has a step by step for this?
Thanks in advance.

pull up on the cable and you will see the loop end of the cable hooked over what looks like a peice of wire, just unhook and rehook the new one on and thats it.

Re: TH350 kickdown cable install

Use some needle nose pliers. It's a PITA but can be done without removing the pan, unless you drop the broken piece in there.

Re: TH350 kickdown cable install

worked well thanks,
I am still not sure how to tune the cable position at the carburator end.
Is there a way to determine how to adjust the tension on the cable so that the kick works best?

Re: TH350 kickdown cable install

The kickdown cable should be adjusted so that full extension of the cable (and valve in the trans) is reached at the same time the carb reaches WOT.
