I am going to put a junk yard dist. in one of my engines. Should i put the gear off the old one on the new one? Or will the new gear (actulally old) wear into the cam. they appear to be steel gears.

I swapped a junkyard HEI ffom point dist and have no problem with the gear. I would take it apart and check over everything on the junkyard dist. On mine, the grease had solidifed on the advance portion and the spring where rusted.
