Re: Push button start. How ez?

I bought a push to start/keyless entry system from Advanced Keys. I'll be installing it in the next few days but I've gone over the install manuals and there doesn't seem to be anything to complicated about it. Here's a link to a wiring diagram and their install manual Advanced Keys - AK-105B Smart Key with Push Start System

It's a smart keyless entry system as well, as long as you have the fob in your pocket it will lock and unlock the doors as you approach or leave. Plus it has RFID Authentication process that makes it a lot harder to hack it. It has the ignition lock/unlock if you choose to turn it on. It even rolls your windows up if you don't when you leave, if you have power window. Plus push to start, one tap start (arms the ignition as you approach), remote start, alram system with ignition disable, etc... It's pretty cool...

Re: Push button start. How ez?

That Advanced Keys system looks good, If you could put the Start button in the exact spot as the key on a 67 that would be slick..

Re: Push button start. How ez?

I put one of thoes on a friends 1955 chevy truck he was updating. We had a few problems with it as ours was a early build one. They were great to work with. He likes it. Me I like KISS ( keep it simple stupid)

There is wiring involved but has good diagrams. It needs brake & P/N switch inputs etc.

Re: Push button start. How ez?

So it doesn't effect the Column lock ?
Don't need the oem key at all ?

So obv for the cleanest look a new column
With no key would be n look best.

Re: Push button start. How ez?

66 has the key in the dash.
WTF would anyone want to go w/ pushbutton?
Will you still have to turn the key to run?

Re: Push button start. How ez?

Or flip a hidden switch.

I wired the starter to the horn on a TA years ago.. seemed the gal had the car stolen 2 times and the thief hot wired it and drove it off.
Well anytime the starter cranked the horn would sound.
OR if you push the horn the car would crank.

You could wire it through the horn. Just saying.

Re: Push button start. How ez?

One of my six pack down and $50 a week till its paid for trucks had a doorbell push button in the cigarette lighter hole to start the truck. Turn the key and push the button. Helped with lowering the price. Guy was a carpenter and had installed some nice stained wood armrest pads to replace the trashed orignals. Had real tobacco stains down the drivers door. Great truck.

Adjustment of the neutral safety switch fixed it.

Had a recent rental with push button. Not a fan yet.

66 Malibu Coupe, home rebuilt 350. Took me 39 years to get her!

Re: Push button start. How ez?

it's a little more sophisticated than a toggle switch... No key required either, and before you ask, no, not just anyone can walk up to your car and start it. You have to have your fob on you, in your hand, pocket, etc. The RFID antenna in your car will pick you, your fob, up as you approach your car and authenticate it, unlock your doors, and allow you to just tap the button to start your car. When you exit the car it will lock your doors and disable your ignition system until you return, mine will even roll my windows up if I forget to. No need to dig for your keys or have your keychain swinging from the dash.

It's not for everyone, so feel free to carry around a pocket full of keys...
