I hope someone can help me out here. I am trying to finish a frame off restoration on my '67 Chevelle 300 (2 door post), but ran into a little problem (so I thought!).
Apparently my painter has lost my rear quarter widow vertical channel(s)! No problem, I'll just go to the nearest wrecking yard and get them! Not a chance. I have been looking for a few months all over the U.S.! Can't find them anywhere! Can anyone give me a lead on where I can find a parts car, or the parts I need to complete my project? If not can anyone tell me which other GM "A Body" cars would likely use the same part #'s? I'm getting feed back that the Chevelle 300 was Grandma's car and though rare to find, not a good rare. They have been lost, or crushed, and the specific parts I need not many people are looking for. I have a finders fee for anyone that can get me in touch with these parts and if I can buy them and they deliver to me.
Are you talking about the U shaped channels that run around the quarter windows on the sedans?
The PDF Catalog at Restoration Specialties, is a good place to start. Start at the table of content. Finding an exact match may be difficult without a sample which you can send them to match.
I ended up using this flexible beaded channel from Perfect Fit on my 65' Sedan. I'm not completely sure about the type of vertical channel required on your 67' sedan.
No, it's actually the lower vertical metal guide channel that guides the front of the quarter window up into the flexible channel that you're referencing. It's really disheartening because that part didn't need to be taken out to paint the car. What's worse is that nobody would even save that part for resale cause nobody would ever need it. I need it! Thanks for trying to help me though. Someone in this country has a rusted '67 "A" Body post car, sitting under a tree dying that would help me out, but I can't find it! If you ever hear of one please let me know. If I don't find it soon I will probably block the window up so I can at least enjoy it!
My 65 Sedan doesn't even have that guide below the quarter window so I'm sure if I ever had one or not. The quarter windows on these Sedans don't roll up or down worth a damn anyway in my opinion and on the 65's they only roll down part of the way.
I realize this suggestion would take some trust, but if anyone on this site has a '67 300 that is apart for restoration, and would be willing to lend the window channels to Jack, it shouldn't be too hard to fabricate a pair. '66 300 might be the same?
I actually had to do this very same thing on a customer's '64 Biscayne 2 door sedan recently. They turned out nicely and worked perfectly. I knew of another guy that had an identical '64 parts car. The owner of the parts did not want to sell them, but he sent them to me to use for patterns, and then I returned his original parts within a week or so.
I'd even be willing to do the fabrication if the parts were sent to my shop.
I have my 66 300 Sedan blown apart. Steve, you say you would be able to fab one. Would you need the piece or could I send some pictures with measurements would that suffice to make one for Jack.
It would be best to have an actual piece in hand to copy. Only one would be needed, as the other side would be a mirror image. BUT, send some pics first and we'll see if that's enough to fab a pair. Make sure you've got dimensions and locations of brackets, holes, etc.
Sorry, I don't get on my computer very often! I would be very appreciative if someone would be willing to lend you the parts so you could re-make some new ones! I would even rent the originals if someone would be willing. I can't find them for anything! Please give me a call if you can do this. 209 587 0942 Thanks, Jack
Hey Kenny, sorry I haven't had time to get back to you! I work out of state and am not home much so I don't get on my computer very much either. The problem I have is I've never seen the part that I am missing. My painter removed them from my car then moved his shop and lost them. I don't know why he removed them in the first place but never the less they're gone. I have a parts diagram that shows a part that I don't have, and I believe to be what I need. I wish I could find a car to see the actual part that I need. If you can give me your contact (text) I can send the diagram to you and you can see if the part is what I need. The part that you took a photo of almost seems like the rear upper horizontal guide which I was missing but found in AZ. I can take a pic of that to show you what I do have. I installed the rear upper horizontal pieces and thought everything was looking up but when I tried to roll up the rear windows I noticed that the front of the window had no guide to raise it up correctly to the rear horizontal piece! Another reason that I believe I'm missing parts is that there are 2 empty holes in the interior metal where a vertical guide would go. Is there any way you can take pics of the suspect area in your car so I can identify the parts? By the way I will gladly rent the parts from you for your trouble, because I just want to get this project DONE! If it will speed things up, you can contact me at 209 687 0942 or rotorhead7500@gmail.com so we can figure this out. I really appreciate your offering to help me, you don't find that much anymore!
Crazy but I need the same piece for my 67 300 as well- I also need the entire channel/ guide/ gasket that fits up in the roof that the quater window rolls up into- mine were removed by previous owner and long gone- I have been trying to find them for yrs with no luck- Steve- if willing to fab these parts I would absolutely buy a set from you.
Please email or PM me- I am desperate.

So how is your painter going to compensate you for losing irreplaceable parts?
