Putting a pair of bucket seats in a 70 Malibu. Current setup bench seat has lap belt/shoulder belt for driver/passenger and lap belt for center passenger - 10 pieces in all. I know I remove the lap belt for the center passenger, and the outside lap belt and shoulder harness stays the same. On the inside (console side), I should have two belts with latch assemblies on each side. Is there a replacement belt with a hard plastic extended cover like you would see in a factory seat belt installation, or do I just use the belt/buckle assemblies I have now, and lay them in the floorboard?
If you have a console the 70 Chevelle used a vinyl pouch set up that mounts to the console. That vinyl pouch is where through two inner belts ( two each side ) are stored. IMHO the vinyl pouches don't look very good. They kind of make the console look like a pack horse.
Here is a pic of the seat belt pouches that are correct for a 70 with console. These happen to be from Ebay but they should be available from all the parts houses. They are a pretty common part.
