Took out the old cruddy tray and trunk divider...bought a new tray and divider along with jute for both.

Any good hints on the proper installation procedure? ie.

1...
2...
3???

Also, I am assuming on the trunk divider, the jute goes on first and then the cardboard divider...therefore you see the jute when looking through the trunk? This would also give the vinyl flap from the tray a place to stick to (the cardboard)when it is folded over???

No... You have it backward. The black side of the trunk divider should be seen from the trunk. Glue the insulation on the seat side of the trunk divider with spray-on contact adhesive, then hang it on the hooks in the steel.

The vinyl strip on the front edge of the package tray is glued to the medal also with contact glue. It shouldn't reach low enough to touch the insulation on the trunk divider...

I'm close to this activity now myself. If you do a search for "trunk divider" you'll see numerous posts on this subject (example post http://www.chevelles.com/cgi-bin/for...1/2992.html?). I believe that the consensus is with the back seat out of the car, put on the divider (hang on the "tabs") board first (that way when you open the trunk & look at the back of the seat, you see the "black" board. Then put the insulation on the passenger compartment side of the board next (I believe it would "hang" also, but I plan to use spray upholstery adhesive to glue the insulation to the board so it can't "droop or sag". Then install the package tray insulation, then the package tray itself (some trays have trim pieces on the ends where it meets the "ear muffs" that you also install with the tray). The package tray has an area of material that laps forward over the board & insulation before the seat goes in. Then install the back portion of the back seat, bolting it in place at the bottom (2 bolts), then install the seat (bottom) portion of the back seat, pushing it in (pushing back toward the rear of the car & under the back portion of the seat that you bolted into place) far enough to clip down behind the "clip" areas of the floorpan.

Thanks guys...I just did a search, which is usually my first move when I have a question, but I forgot this time, and there was a ton of great info. Interestingly enough, the debate appears to rage on as to what side the insulation goes on the divider...the replies are generally split down the middle. I am putting the board towards the trunk, then the insulation, then seat.
