66 reclining bucket seat? other A body?

Buddy of mine is picking up a pair of bucket seats for his chevelle. Guy that has a set says they're correct for a 66 A body, but he's pretty sure not a chevelle, maybe a buick or oldsmobile. These are suppose to recline. Does that sound like A body bucket seats? I know the higher dollar A bodys had some nicer options, just asking if this sounds familiar to anyone. thanks! jim

Passenger side recliner was an A body option. Quite often along with a power drivers bucket and sometimes headrests.

So it was a chevelle option too? This is going into his 66 and the guys got 2 sets. the reclining set is decent enough to bolt in and go. The regular seats need a total redo to even be put into a driver. Thanks. jim

No, reclining psgr seat was not available in 66-67 Chevelle. It was available in the Impala though, I think, and in all the B-O-P big cars. All you have to do is bolt a set of A-body seat tracks under it and it will then fit in the Chevelle.

They're bad uncomfotrable though!! The pivot point is way up in the small of your back. It's more like sitting in a "broken" seat than in a "reclining" seat.

Recliner pass seat was offered in the 66/67 GM A-body line so it should bolt in fine

Re: 66 reclining bucket seat? other A body?

I've got a recliner in my 67 from a 66 Riveria. As Jeff siad, it's uncomfortable! I though the upholstery guys screwed it up but know I'm wondering if that's how these seats are. Does anybody has a recliner that is comfortable?

I think just a poor design... Like Jeff said it doesnt recline from the bottom.

Re: 66 reclining bucket seat? other A body?

I had a set of bucket seats with power driver seat, and reclining passenger. I sold them off a long time ago. Not correct for Chevelle. Definitely interesting though.
