Re: 66 SS white interior

I have been looking myself. My local Chevelle guy tells me that it is a bad color to use due to the quality of air here in the Central Valley of California. It will make it yellow rather quickly. I still plan on doing it though.

Re: 66 SS white interior

Jim Larson has a nice White interior on his 66 SS.

I had a white interior on my 65 Impala SS, cleaned up well. Not too hard to take care of.

Tom,You can see a little bit on the crummy cellphone pictures I have on my link. On the interior, anything vinyl is white. The dash, console, top rails on doors, door kicks, and carpet are black. The headliner is white,as are the bucket seat backs....Bob

Re: 66 SS white interior

Didn't happen that way from the factory. White interiors came with black carpet and trim - even on blue cars. One could do the dash, trim, etc. in blue and the only 'problem' area might be the bottom of the door panels

that's not "factory"... But thats how I did mine...

When I started building this car, I was tired of "black" interiors, and "black" engine compartments...

For the interior, I had the door panels custom made by PUI (through Hinshaws), in "all white". I used Bright Blue carpet, and dash pad, and had the seat belts rewebbed by Ssnake Oyl Products in Blue... I had a local paint shop match the seat covers, and used that paint color for the seat backs/bottoms/ kick panels and console...

The dash/door tops/A-pillars/column were all paint with the same color as the exterior. The color was 1994 GM Medium Quasar Blue Metallic which is very close to the original Marina Blue on my other '66...

Mine was a convertible, so I also painted the folding top mechanism with the same Blue color...

I loved it... To most people, it looked stock. Only the true '66 nuts would know it wasn't factory...

I'll probably do this combo again...

Hinshaws helped me get the door panels, no extra charge and no big hassle, but did have to wait about 3 weeks (IIRC)... That was almost 15 years ago though...

I had white interior in my '66 convertible... Lived in Redding for a few years, a year in San Luis Obispo, another 1.5 years in the Bay Area, and then 8+ years in Elk Grove... only had a top for the last 3+ years...

The interior still looked great when I sold the car... Not yellowed... I think I did a thorough cleaning twice in those 12-years...

Once you go RAT, you never go back...
