If the linkage is in good shape bushings etc use it, if its worn you might like cable better.
When I converted my 64 to BB it made the oem linkage bind because of the angles so changed to a lokar cable setup that is very nice except the price. But find out later that Nova and gen 1 camaro setup can be used and cost much less.
Since my BB sits higher than the sb I replaced the linkage became in a more uphill angle and sometimes bound(not at idle ), probably could have worked it out or replaced the rod with a BB repro and new bushings but decided to use the lokar setup.
