Valve seals on exhaust, yes or no?

I'm building a 454, fairly mild will be 99% street driven. I just got a new set of brodix racerite heads and they have the viton positive stop valve seals on the intake only, and nothing on the exhaust and I understand this for a strip application but on a daily driver would I be better off putting these seals on the exhaust also?.........Thanks

Re: Valve seals on exhaust, yes or no?

I faced the same dilemma as you when I bought my Race Rites, until I was told that with no seals on the exhaust guides,my engine would smoke like a freight train.I put the Viton seals on the exhaust side and everything is working just fine almost 4 years later..

Yes, absolutely would want seals on all the exhaust valve stems.

Re: Valve seals on exhaust, yes or no?

You want to use an Viton umbrella seal, not a positive seal or PC seal. A little oil in the guide is a good thing. Don't starve the exh valves.
