best cam for a 388 sbc - Chevelle Tech

best cam for a 388 sbc

what would be the best cam choice for a fresh 383 .60 over (388) with flat top pistons est. 10.5:1 cr, 186 2.02 heads and want to run a dual qaud set up. in front of a muncie 4 speed
basicly a street motor but may see a run or 2 at the local strip
any help??

Best idea: get a set of large chamber heads or dished pistons.

might want to check this thread, it's sort of typical of threads posted when guys build race gas engines and try to run them on pump. There's been lot's of these over the years.

the 383 is already .030 over or it would be a 377...So are you .090 over?

its a .060 over 350 and 400 stroked, was told by machinest it would be around a 388.

if im running under 11:1 cr why would i need race fuel!!??
large chamber heads for what to drop the cr to 8.5 or 9:1 ????
guess i`ll go with old faithful comp cam 280 magnum!!!

I have a 68 camaro with a 355 with 10.5:1 cr has always run on pump gas no pinging or other issues?
i have a 71 chevelle with 383 10.5:1 cr running on pump gas no issues??
all though i dont buy gas from caseys or use 87 octane crap
i use shell v power or amaco gold??
i always understood that cr designated what type of fuel to use!!??
am i missing something here or have i been running these engines on pump gas for 12 yrs (the chevelle) and should not have been?
