best cam choice for 327

i picked up a fresh rebuilt 327 short block new 67 3892657 block standard bore new pistons flat tops 9.5:1s, new steel crank (small journal) all fresh but no cam, i have a set of 461 2:02 heads that are in good bolt on ready shape, so what would be a nice cam choice with this combo? Im not looking for sick wicked hp just a nice lil street motor for cruising!!

Re: best cam choice for 327

I am running a voodoo 262 cam in my 327 along with a set of 041 heads, performer eps intake, and holley 600 carb. It is a great combination considering it is in a pretty heavy car. I am real happy with the street manners and it pulls pretty hard through the gears. I have a 3.42 ratio in the rear and a 2600 stall in the turbo 350. It isn't a 1/4 mile terror but I sure enjoy the ride.

Re: best cam choice for 327

I just went thru the same thing on a fresh 67 327 on our 67, I went with the old style, 1967 L79 327 325 horse hydraulic lifter cam, running a power glide, factory air and power steering. nice idle, nice sound, and it will turn some rpm, nice respectable cruser and a getter when you want it.

Voodoo cam profiles are supposed to be some of the newest hydraulic flat tappet cam technology available...

Re: best cam choice for 327

What is a crusing engine too you? What rear gear? What transmission?

If you have 3.73's you could go as big as 230's @.050" but if only 3.55's you would have to be in the 220's @.050"

Nice pick up--- I loved my 327 (just an Edelbrock Performer 2102 RV cam, but it was perfect for me...)

Re: best cam choice for 327

I think Steve's suggestion of a Lunati Voodoo 60102 or the next one up, the 60103 would be my choice if you are going hydraulic flat tappet.

Re: best cam choice for 327

I've got a couple Brand New cams if interested...

A solid flat tappet Comp XS268 (230/236 @ .050"; .488/.501" lift; 110 LSA)
an Isky Mega 264/270 hyd flat (214/221 @ .050"; .450/.465 lift; 112 LSA)
And a Lunati 10101 (222/222 @ .050; .440/.440"; 113 LSA)
All include lifters.

Any of the above would do well in your 327...

Re: best cam choice for 327

I am running a Reed 264/272, 214/218, .450/.460, 110 LSA cam in my 9.5:1 327 w/ 64cc 2.02 heads, ZZ4 intake, Q-jet, headers. Real nice combo for power from idle to 5500, and a slight lope at idle. This is very similar to the isky mega that BillsCamino mentioned about (except the isky is on wider lobe centers). I think the Isky would be a good choice.
