gasket sealer on carb gasket??

Do you guys use gasket sealer on your carb gasket ???? 70 with stock quadrajet and intake. It is a thin gasket from Ground Up. Also, the carb was rebuilt and came back with about a 1/8" to 1/4" thick gasket, not sure if that's what they originally came with or the thinner one from Ground Up

Re: gasket sealer on carb gasket??

Nope, no sealer on the carb gasket. In fact sealer is not necessary on any gasket, as long as the sealing surfaces are in good condition (straight), absolutely clean and dry. Never use RTV (silicon) on any gasket and only resort to using goop if it is absolutely necessary BUT never on or around the carburetor.
