I tried to get some 235/60R15 and 295/50R15 Firestone Firehawk 500's, and it turns out they are discontinued in these sizes. So if you can get your hands on some, do it now. Shame, as they were probably the best performing 15" radial for our cars.
I switched to the Mickey Thompson SR radials. They look like the Cobras alot, but they have all those sizes. I refuse to buy BF Goodrich since they are playing havic with their sizes also.
Since Coker bought the BFG RWL, they have discontinued many popular sizes and raised their prices 25%!!!! Maybe if enough guys wanted a certain size we could contact Coker and he would make them. . . .yeh right!
Does anyone know if ALL Firehawk Indy 500 RWL tires are being discontinued, or just certain sizes? My Dad was just getting ready to spring for some 215/70 or 225/70 14" Firehawks.
14" RWL tires are getting very hard to find - BFG, Firehawk, Cooper Cobra, Pep Boys Futura seem to be the only ones left.
I have purchased 3 sets of tires from Tirerack.com. Bought a set of Firstone Indy 500 RWL 14" a few years ago...Bad news is I just looked it up and I see two in 15" but not size that you mentioned and black wall only..
Problem is...with oil prices rising like there are, you're going to find more and more of the less popular (14 & 15") tires sizes being dropped from production.
Prices will be rising too. Rubber raw matl cost typically tracks oil, and the rubber manufacturers love to jump all over that and pass on the increases to tire manufacturers, etc, who (of course) pass that on to you and me.
Well I think the new decision will between the Cooper Cobra's and the Mickey Thompson S/T's. I've read that these are the same construction but different tread pattern, but no way to really confirm. I don't think I can justify paying ~$300 in S&H for tires.
