Old Style Cragers 70 Chevelle

I've got a '70 Chevelle 2 door coupe that has stock rear suspension (body is stock height on the rear) and 2 inch dropped front spindles on the front, and a big block.
I would like to run old style (60s) 15 inch Cragers on all fours. I'm wanting to run 9.5 to 10 inch tread width tires on the rears and 6 inch tread width tires front. I'm thinking 3.5 to 4.5 inch rear offset and 2 inch offset for the front to compesate for the dropped spindles. Has anyone this combo and what size and brand tires did you run. This car will see weekend driving and some track time.

Thanks, Tom6870

The numbers you are referring to are "backspace", not "offset". On my 70 SS I have 225/70R15 tires on 15x7" Cragar SS with a 4-1/4 B.S. in front and 275/60R15 tires on 15x8" Cragar SS with a 4-1/4 B.S. in the rear. I have the standard suspension with no dropped spindles.

Thanks, now I have a good starting place. By the way, I've heard and seen it as "back space" and "off set".

Thanks,

"Backspace" and "Offset" are 2 totally different things and have 2 totally different meanings. Backspace can be measured. Offset cannot be measured, but has to be calculated. You are always better off talking backspace.

What does a 2" BS have to do with 2" dropped spindles? Just wondering...
