350 block casting 3970014

Anyone have an idea of what these blocks went in? Casting date is
G 31 72. 3970014 doesn't seem to be a very popular number. The heads have the camel humps.

thanks

Re: 350 block casting 3970014

Is the July casting date too early to be found in a 73 car?

Getting closer to finding out what this is out of. I found the stampings on the front of the block. T0929 CKD or CKL. last letter is hard to see.

Re: 350 block casting 3970014

I'll go get the vin on the front and see if there's one on the side. Just pulled the valve covers. The heads are 1966 462 matched. So I'm sure they don't go with the block. I'll put them in the classifieds.

Re: 350 block casting 3970014

i had a 72 chevelle way back, original engine L65 350. it was a 014 block 2bolt with the same heads you have 462.Had no problems and ran the snot out of it on the street/drag strip for 13 years. 12.77et with 4.56gears.car went to NY.

Is there a chip in the lip around the oil filter area?

I'll look tomorrow. The motor sounds really good. I'm pretty sure the cam is not stock.

With an engine assembly date of September 29th, it is for sure a 1973 model car it went into.

Authentication and pre-purchase inspection service still available. PM me for more information.
Still looking for that elusive 76 Nova SS.
