Decode Heads Please

Left side
B18-70
GM9T
3964290

Right Side
C9-70
GM11T
3964290

I know its not the orig. motor it a 72 396. Could these be my orig. heads. and are they good.

HP heads would be rectangular port ,not oval port.
Could be the originals as those were used in '69-'70.
no way to tell if those were your original heads ,you can only see how the cast dates correspond to the engine assembly date -requires build sheet.

1969/70 396/402 and 70 454/360. B18-70 looks like date code February 18, 1970 and C9-70 is Mach 9, 1970 - definately not your 72 396 heads. 2.06/1.72 valves and 100.967 cc.

Theres a closed chamber oval port head. Used on everything from 396 to 454. They are a pretty good head.

Dale ,it's a 70 car w/72 engine.
I'm thinking he's asking if those heads came off the 70 engine.

At least I might have something from the orig. motor. Wish I could find it. Then I would have a numbers matching car.

Those are the same original heads that I have on my LS-5.Similar date codes,too.Mine were cast in Jan.

70 SS 454 LS-5 M-22 Original Bornwith Drivetrain-Baldwin Chevrolet
