This will be the story of my 66 300 Deluxe 4 door sedan. It's currently a 230 6 cylinder with a 3 on the tree. The car will be a mild pro touring car, maybe more of a restomod. It won't have the hardcore pro touring parts, more of a street build. It will have 4 wheel disc brakes, all tubular control arms with good swaybars shocks and springs. It will definitely have fuel injection and probably a small block, but I don't rule out the possibility of a big block. I'm not sure on the transmission yet. Maybe one of the all new M22s that are available.
I bought the car on Ebay on Christmas day 2015. It was supposed to be a running driving original survivor car with "just some rust on the LF fender and hood" and have "72,500 original miles". As you might expect, none of that was the case. It arrived with a receipt in the glovebox for an odometer replacement. The intake manifold was cracked and it backfired and died with any throttle under load, it overheats too. Almost every body panel has either rust bubbles or amateur bodywork. There are rust holes in the frame, the trunk pan has amateur patches and the floor pans are cut out with replacements pop riveted and welded over the top of the old ones. Probably the worst part is the rear body mounts by the wheels are missing, the mounting areas on both the frame and body are rotted away. Notice the "new headliner" hanging down. I don't know if the seller was intentionally dishonest or not. It's not really what I wanted to start with, I wanted a clean original 4 door. But the seller is working with me to partially refund and make it somewhat right. Luckily I can fix all of that, but didn't want to have to, I was hoping to jump right to the fun stuff.
Here are some pics of it coming out of the shipping truck and in our shop at work checking it out.
