More progress

I'm going to mount a vacuum pump, and I needed 1/4" more space for the belt drive. So I am attempting to put in a front motor plate.I'm glad I had enough cardboard for templates. One side bolted right on, the other was a challenge to fit. As of now I will rest the plate on the frame, and put the bracket/tab behind. Later if it is a wear item I will plate the frame. Any other suggestions welcome. Here is my grass shack machinist blueing(Sharpie) also. I still have to tend to contouring, and fitting the vacuum pump, but it fits the frame.

Re: More progress

I also had a fitment problem with the engine diaper. The 21049 pan cleared everything, except when you add the diaper, and absorbent pad. So I did some work on the center link for more clearance.

Respectfully, Mike - why don't you just add to your previous thread, instead of starting a new one?

Re: More progress

I didn't think to keep adding to the same one, so far in between. If it's wanted I will next time.

It gives your build thread continuity, Mike, for those who are following along.

And it's easier to find, instead of people spending time looking for several different-named threads about the same car.

Re: More progress

Yes Mike, you do have a few followers here on the site.
Slowly but surely it is coming along. Lots of ground has been covered with your build and it is progressing nicely. One thing though, I didn't think there is a posted speed limit above 50 mph on your island. Time for digger gears and a G-suit for the day you unleash that beast!

Re: More progress

Thank you gentlemen, I was not thinking of this as a build thread, just me putsing along in the garage. I'm not sure this can be rectified for earlier, but I'll dig this up when new installments come up.

Chris the motor plate is .250 thick, and I'm going to add a 3/16 tab/bracket welded to the frame, 2 bolts each side. I may add a mid plate at a later date, for now I'll still have solid side mounts.
If you wanted the actual weight it's 7.7 lbs as is.

Re: More progress

Thanks Mike. The pictures made it look a lot thicker to me, which made me think it was upwards of 30 lbs. 8 lbs is not too bad. Keep up the good work.

Re: More progress

I talked to Steve at Star, and found out the pump gear can be flipped around which helped a bunch. The pump needs to come out only .820 now to line up. I have a Vintage air front runner system to put on to set where the pump will go. Now I have to find the mounting frame that I haven't seen in 4 years. I did find all of the bolts, spacers, small brackets, etc.
