I hope Tom will indulge me because most of the people here have given me so much support live here in the performance forum. I want them to know their encouragement paid off. I know this is a little late but I hope you don't mind me sharing the experience the week before Thanksgiving. I had a surgery and a broken foot get in the way. The big milestones were I drove the car for the first time in 2 years and I got to see Dal for the first time in 2 1/2 years ! That's right boys and girls I made at least 7 passes during 6 days of racing, plus a day and a half towing each way. We were able to pit with Dal and his Dad Norm and I was ecstatic.
I ran N/E and my partner in crime Dave Thompson the owner of TNT Motorsports ran Electronics, without Dave none of this would not have happened because he stepped up and did all the heavy lifting that I can't do anymore. There were 4-500 cars there with a lot of them in the electronics class and the funny thing was Dave qualified number 1 with any electronics!
The car was amazing, Chris, Scott and Mark put together a motor like I've never had before. The weather was a bit different each day but the car ran whatever the weather allowed meaning the first day we had a 20 mph head wind which slowed it down but it still was completely consistent. Dave ran a 9.42 @ 140 and I ran a 9.42 @ 140. The track was a little finicky it either has a 1.28 or a 1.32 60', the burn out was very fussy. I couldn't believe I was driving that car again but you know it was just the same only things happened a lot faster. The last day I ran the best with a 9.33 @ 142 with a 3500 DA and a 27.9 baro. That's 1 tenth quicker and 2 mph faster than it ever did at Woodburn in spring air with the old motor, the boy's really turned this one up. I think those big 903 hyd lifters would turn 8k if I let them, the thing rev's like crazy.
If we get some good spring weather it might be interesting, I think there should be some very low 9.0's or maybe even a 8.99999 if we get the chassis right. I have to make it to then, to be doing this on a 10.2 tire is remarkable. To all the people who have helped and sent well wishes thanks you so much......
You may recall that in September air when we first got the motor from Mark it ran a 9.11 and a 9.12 with 1.27 60' times. One pass where Dave had to lift to avoid breaking out it ran a 5.75 1/8th which calculates out to a 9.08..... I'm pumped....all steel except for the hood, full interior, all factory glass, stock frame and suspension on a 10.2 tire. Anyway for a terminally ill sick guy this was quite an experience and I owe a lot of it to all of you, thank you all so much. The one video I have that's not a FB one is my first pass....it was awesome....the rest is just a few picks.....I hope you enjoy it.....I absolutely love this car and thanks so much to Mark Jones for building such an incredible motor......
Dal had a little issue with the pinion support actually pushind itself out of the third member....his car is going to be crazy fast..well into the 8's
